Efficient & Effective Governance
Efficient & Effective Governance is critical to ensuring that development benefits both people and the planet. Good governance should entail processes, decisions and outcomes that are environmentally and socially just.
Urban Mobility & Seamless Transit
Urban mobility is one of the toughest challenges that cities face. Being able to get around urban areas quickly, conveniently and with little environmental impact is critical particularly in large cities. The National Urban Transport Policy aims at promoting Integrated Land Use Planning, Bus Rapid Transit, Non-motorized Transport etc. Implementation of these policy measures calls for innovative urban transport planning and adoption of modern and smart technologies. The session will feature MNCs and start-ups presenting innovative mobility solutions.
Urban Planning, Design & Resource Management
Urban Planning & Design is a valuable force for city leaders to achieve sustainable development. In addition, urban design blends architecture, landscape architecture, and city planning together to make urban areas functional and attractive.
Managing the resource footprint of cities calls for institutional coordination and other forms of collaboration - which has rarely been evident in policy or practice. The majority of cities/municipal administrations plan and manage along sectoral lines and within municipal boundaries; consequently, they are unable to fully realize the interaction and synergies between water, energy and food security and the potential co-benefits arising from integrated resource management.
Geo-spatial technologies
A dedicated technology session for this edition as we believe Geo-spatial technologies will have a key role in enabling smart and sustainable cities. It has applications in energy, water, transportation, public safety, citizen services, city governance, healthcare, education, etc. Geo spatial tech not only improve the efficiency in managing the city infrastructure, but also enable collaboration during city planning, development and operations.
Health & Well-Being in Cities
Humans should be at the heart of our thinking when building future cities. By focusing on and investing in well-being through innovation and design, city leaders and planners can build comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive ways.
Community Building & Inclusive Cities
We build cities that bring us together or push us apart. "Gated communities" are an obvious example of building to isolate, but other methods are also common. Streets that are too wide, with fast moving traffic, divide us. So do zoning codes that separate uses and housing types creating barriers and distance between people. Mixed-use neighborhoods and great public spaces, on the other hand, bring citizens together in real communities
